Master the art of cold outreach to investors. Learn how to write emails that get opened, read, and responded to when you don't have warm introductions.
Study the investor's portfolio, investment thesis, and recent activity. Read their blog posts and tweets. Only email investors who actually invest in your stage, sector, and geography.
Keep it short and specific. Mention your sector, a key metric, or mutual connection. Avoid clickbait. Examples: 'B2B SaaS - $50K MRR, seeking seed' or 'Referred by [Name] - AI for healthcare'.
Structure: 1) Why you're emailing them specifically, 2) One-line company description, 3) Biggest traction point, 4) What you're raising, 5) Clear ask. Attach your deck. That's it.
Put your most impressive metric, credential, or insight first. This could be revenue, growth rate, notable customers, team background, or a unique market insight.
Follow up once after 5-7 days if no response. Keep it brief: 'Wanted to bump this to the top of your inbox.' After two attempts with no response, move on.
Send emails Tuesday through Thursday, early morning (8-10 AM in their timezone). Avoid Mondays, Fridays, weekends, and holidays. September-October and March-May are peak fundraising seasons.
